Little Cathy lived in a big, old house called Wuthering Heights. It stood on a windy, green hill, where the clouds danced by. Cathy loved to run and play on the wild moors all around her home.
One sunny morning, a new friend came to live at Wuthering Heights. His name was Heathcliff. He had dark, shiny hair and quick, bright eyes.
Cathy and Heathcliff became the best of friends. They chased butterflies through the tall grass and watched fluffy sheep nibble on the hills.
They built tall forts out of stones and pretended the wind told them secrets. Their laughter echoed across the wide, open land every day.
But one windy afternoon, they disagreed about who saw the biggest cloud. Heathcliff stomped his foot, and Cathy crossed her arms.
They went their separate ways, each playing alone. The moors felt a little less bright, and their games felt a little less fun without each other.
Cathy found a pretty feather and thought of Heathcliff. Heathcliff saw a funny shaped stone and wished Cathy was there. They both felt a little sad and missed their shared adventures.
So, Cathy walked towards Heathcliff, holding out the feather. Heathcliff smiled and shared his stone. They remembered that playing together was always the best part. And their hearts felt happy once more.
